Mechanical keyboards are gradually becoming mainstream in the gaming world and with more and more companies jumping on the peripherals wagon, it’s of no surprise that the amount of features and build quality is on the up, whilst the price is decreasing, as more and more brands are competing against each other. With the recent announcement of RBG Cherry MX switches, 2014 is expected to be an exciting year for mechanical keyboards. That said, does a good keyboard really require lots of features? We’ve seen the likes of Ducky, who have several crazy lighting modes, Corsair with many additional macro buttons or Tesoro with their gamer styled keyboards, but are these really a necessity? Today I am taking a look at a Func’s latest product, the KB-460, a mechanical keyboard that doesn’t focus so much on features and looks, but instead performance and comfort.

Func, create simple yet decent performing peripherals. We’ve had the chance to review the Func MS-3 in the past, which walked away clutching an award, so if that is anything to go by, I have high hopes that the KB-460 will fair well in an already crowded market. The keyboard abides by Func’s design trends and has a few features packed into a simple looking design and hopefully it’ll be a great performer. Before I take a look at the keyboard, let’s just check out what Func had crammed into the KB-460:

Cherry MX Red mechanical switches
Silent linear mechanical switches with minimal travel distance for rapid fingers.

Full N-key roll over anti-ghosting
Forget annoying “beeps” of unregistered key commands.

Reliable, durable product design
Keep the same tactile feeling up to 50 million strokes per key.

Func Mode™
Activates re-assigned keys and disables the Windows key for a gaming friendly environment.

Customizable backlight key illumination
Adjust key illuminations brightness to your liking.

Comfortable palm rest
Keeps your hands strain and stress free during many hours of use.

2 x USB connect-through ports
Accessible connect-through ports for other USB devices.

Plug n play, no need for installations
KB-460 is completely plug n play ready; installation is only needed to personalize the keyboard to fit your gameplay style.

Re-assignable buttons
Re-assign the buttons and adjust the key configuration to suit your needs.

On-board customizable profiles
Switch instantly between 5 profiles stored on the on-board memory.

Integrated media controls
Smoothly change between songs or increase the volume without exiting the game.

So that’s what Func have stuffed into the keyboard, lets now take a look.
