[section_title title=”Overclocking”]Overclocking

Following on from my previous Extreme6 review I had very high hopes for this board and I was not let down at all.

As per my normal tests I started off with trying to hit 4.5GHz at 1.3v. As some of you will know these are the settings we at Play3r use for our CPU cooler testing and are settings just about every motherboard should be able to achieve. While I had no doubts at all the Extreme4 would achieve this with ease I set off on my way, through the bios changing just the bare minimum and sure enough, 4.5GHz at 1.3v was taken with ease.

After hitting 4.5GHz it was time to see what this board was capable of. To see what it could handle I set the voltage to 1.4 and start raising the multiplier by 1 at a time.  The Extreme4 held its own and was able to match the maximum overclock I have been able to reach on my 4770k which is 4.8GHz @ 1.401v.
