Once again it is time to see what everything boils down to. Is the PNY Wireless Media Reader good value for the money and a worthy purchase? Lets recap.

Starting off with the design and there is really not a whole lot that can be expected from a device of this nature. It’s compact and has a nice rubber coating round it. The one thing I feel letting it down that I will categorize as part of the design is the fact there is no way to tell what percentage of battery you have left. The battery LED is either on or off, that’s it. I for one would personally like to see some sort of power left / battery level indication on future items as in my opinion, any device that has a rechargeable battery or is not used on a mains connector should have one.

On to the performance and I cannot fault it. While I only had four devices to connect to it instead of the rated five, it surpassed my expectations and held its own very well.  Buffer times and input lag were kept to a minimum even after multiple devices were connected. Movies literally load in seconds and no matter what you are doing on one device it does not seem to interfere with what is happening to other connected devices. You can share, stream, save and just about do whatever you want without having to worry if you are going to ruin any other users experience. Also take into account that is does have an inbuilt 2,000mAh power bank and while you can not use it to charge your device while streaming it still comes in handy.

Taking a look at the price of around £50, its a bit more expensive than other similar offerings. While I cannot comment on the value of other devices as I have not used them, I do feel the price could be a bit better. Other devices are priced £10-£15 cheaper and if PNY could get the price down to this range it would be a force to be reckoned with.

All in all the PNY Wireless Media Reader does what it says it should and while it may be priced higher than others it works and it works good! Being able to stream video simultaneously across multiple devices is sure to come in handy for family trips when you need to keep the kids busy!

I would like to thank PNY for sending the Wireless Media Reader in for review and look forward to see more from them in the future.

Summary

The PNY Wireless Media Reader allows consumers to connect multiple devices and simultaneously stream movies, share pictures or just save documents. The inclusion of a 2,000mAh power bank is surely welcome and while you can’t charge and stream at the same time, it does come in handy. All in all it does what it is meant to and is a very handy device to have around especially if you and your family have multiple mobile devices.
