[section_title title=”Installation”]Installation

Installation was fairly easy once I figured out what in the world was going on. The directions left me a little bit puzzled but as I started piecing things together I soon found out what was going on.

First and foremost you will want to align these screws through the corresponding holes on the backplate. If they are not aligned right you’ll soon know as they will not fit through the holes in the motherboard.

Once you have done that you can now put the backplate onto the back of the motherboard pushing the screws through to the front. Once the screws are through use the little black clips and attached them onto the screws to hold the backplate in place.

Once you have the backplate on the motherboard it is time to attach the brackets to the Dark Rock Pro 3 itself. For this review I used the Intel brackets and it was very straight forward. Put one half of the bracket on each side and put the two little screws into each to keep them in place. One you have done that you can put the screws that will hold the cooler to the backplate on the outside corners of the cooler. Please be careful as again you will need to line the screws up properly to correspond with your motherboard socket.

Once that is done it is time to connect the Dark Rock Pro 3 to the backplate on the motherboard. The easiest way for me to do this was to actually set the Dark Rock Pro 3 on my desk upside down and place the motherboard on top of it. The cooler is extremely heavy and I felt more comfortable doing it this way but please be careful and find a way that suites you best. Once this is done you would just need to plug your fans in and that’s it, good to go!

One thing to be careful of is the orientation of the Dark Rock Pro 3. Depending which way you decide to fit it you may not have a lot of room left and it could potentially block PCI lanes.
